Factors affecting the demand for softwood lumber in the united states

This study sets out to examine whether the demand for softwood lumber in the United States is responsive to various market factors including the price of softwood lumber, the price of other building materials, and the level of economic activity (e.g. housing starts). Concern in the analysis is focused on overcoming some of the methodological shortcomings found in previous studies of this issue. The results are conclusive. The quantity of softwood lumber demanded does respond to the various economic factors considered. Moreover, when the structural stability of the estimated relationships is investigated, the results suggest that the demand for softwood lumber regionally in the United States has remained unaltered over the sample period (1950–1985).

生产单元的管理有效性具体体现在优化配置所有参与生产过程的物质资源和人力资源,适时调整生产规模.在这一含义之下,利用等效益面生产函数可将一个生产单元的经济增长分解为三个要素的代数和.他们分别是投入要素的贡献、技术进步和管理效应.其中管理贡献反映的是技术效率的改善,其本质就是偏要素生产率的变化和规模效应即资源配置效率.在其离散型分解式的基础上,可以根据这些要素的不同变化情况,进一步测算管理贡献率.基于等效益面生产函数上的管理贡献率测算方法同时考虑了管理有效性概念的内涵和外延,具有明确的经济意义和几何意义.     

中国棉花期货市场价格发现功能研究

期货市场和现货市场之间的价格发现功能一直是监管部门和投资者十分关心的问题。本文借助信息共享模型、脉冲响应函数和方差分解等方法，对中国棉花期货市场和现货市场的价格关系进行了实证研究。研究结果表明：棉花期货价格和现货价格之间存在显著的双向引导关系和长期均衡关系；期货市场和现货市场都扮演价格发现角色，且期货市场在价格发现中处于主导地位。     

新疆区域农业品牌价值最大化及其评价指标与模型

基于对区域农业品牌和新疆区域农业品牌发展的研究综述,应用产品整体概念理论探讨了新疆农产品多层面产品要素的品牌化和综合品牌价值最大化,分析了支撑新疆农产品品牌价值最大化的产业链管理与创新,构建了新疆农业品牌价值最大化评价指标体系,并请新疆的11位农业专家进行评分,应用AHP方法得到了各指标的权重,构建了定量评价模型,以库尔勒香梨为案例,应用模糊综合评价方法测度了特定农产品品种的区域品牌价值,明确了新疆区域农业品牌发展面临的薄弱环节,为新疆政府和企业的品牌农业决策提供了理论依据.     

基于网络均衡的电力市场排污权交易政策研究

本文构建了电力供应链网络均衡模型,网络中包含三级决策主体,分别是:发电厂、电力服务商和用电市场.在分析各级决策者行为的基础上,得到了基于变分不等式的均衡条件,研究了针对发电厂的排污权交易政策设计问题.研究发现:排污交易政策实施后,总排污量不会超过给定的排污权总量;发电厂清洁生产能力的差异对排污权交易政策影响显著.     

Ecosystems perspective on financial networks: Diagnostic tools

The world economy consists of highly interconnected and interdependent commercial and financial networks. Here, we develop temporal and structural network tools to analyze the state of the economy and the financial markets. Our analysis indicates that a strong clustering can be a warning sign. Reduction in diversity, which was an essential aspect of the dynamics surrounding the financial markets crisis of 2008, is seen as a key emergent feature arising naturally from the evolutionary and adaptive dynamics inherent to the financial markets. Similarly, collusion amongst construction firms in a number of regions in Japan in the 2000s can be identified with the formation of clusters of anomalous highly connected companies. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Procedurally Rational Volunteers

The mixed-strategy equilibrium applied to the volunteer's dilemma (Diekmann, 1985 Diekmann , A. ( 1985 ). Volunteer's dilemma . Journal of Conflict Resolution , 29 , 605 – 610 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]) predicts that the probability that at least 1 bystander volunteers decreases, if the number of bystander increases. I argue that this prediction lacks empirical support and demonstrate that an alternative solution concept from the literature on bounded rationality, the procedurally rational equilibrium (Osborne &; Rubinstein, 1998 Osborne , M. J. &; Rubinstein , A. ( 1998 ). Games with procedurally rational players . American Economic Review , 88 , 834 – 847 .[Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]), yields alternative predictions. I supply some empirical evidence that the alternative solution concept fares better in explaining observed behavior in the volunteer's dilemma.

Economic Characterization of Reciprocal Isoperimetric Control Problems Revisited

Theorem 2.1 of Caputo (Ref. 1) linking the optimal solution functions and optimal value functions of reciprocal pairs of isoperimetric control problems is correct, but requires stronger assumptions than those used explicitly to establish its veracity. One such set of stronger assumptions is provided in this note.
